Tucked into a handsome brick townhouse on the Vrolikstraat, my inn is a lovingly furnished 1920s-style B&B in the heart of Amsterdam Oost, a real neighbourhood of bakeries, cafés and tree-lined streets, with Oosterpark just two minutes from the door.
Every room is full of colour and personality, with thoughtful touches throughout: three bicycles included in the price, air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, a washer-dryer, a 4K TV and free coffee and tea. Your host is Jan, a philosophy teacher, musician, Amsterdam tour guide and Airbnb Superhost of nine years. He shares the house with Beauty, the resident cat.

Wake to fresh coffee on the Beukenplein, wander the leafy paths of Oosterpark, and come home to a quiet residential street the tourists rarely find.
Trams and the metro are minutes away, carrying you to the museums, canals and markets of the old city in no time at all.
Oosterpark is a two-minute walk, and the Beukenplein is around the corner. Wibautstraat metro is about a 9-minute walk; the centre is roughly 10 minutes by bike or 12 by tram, and the Rijksmuseum and Museumplein 15 to 20 minutes by bike.

Beauty, the resident cat
Sorry, I seem to have double booked! Beauty has a reservation for the entire year, but I think we can work something out: she gets the radiator, you get the rest of the room. Deal?
Gentle but particular: she loves a scratch on the head, but isn’t one for being picked up or petted along the body. If you hear meowing or scratching at the guestroom door late at night, that’s Beauty asking to be let in — not me! Do say hello if you see her; she rather expects it.
